Forever Yours Esthetics
offers laser tattoo removal, laser tattoo reduction, lightening and partial removal of tattoos. An example of partial removal would be removing a name inside of a banner tattoo without disturbing the surrounding tattoo. Many tattoo artists recommend that clients lighten existing tattoos before they apply a professional cover-up tattoo, the lighter the existing tattoo the more flexibility and choices will be available for the new tattoo. In addition old tattoo's can gradually become more and more visible (bleed thru like paint over wallpaper) under your new cover-up tattoo if not treated with laser tattoo removal. All treatments are aided by the Zimmer Chiller a machine designed to continuously blow cold air at the site of the procedure, the cold air helps to reduce discomfort during the process. Topical anesthetics are available for all laser therapy treatments.

Lasers are monochromatic this means they can only treat one color at a time. The settings on the laser are changed to target each color. Treatments can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the colors that need to be treated.

For complete removal of a tattoo it takes 10-15 treatments. When Lightening a tattoo for cover up work an average of 3-5 treatments are typically needed. These treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart allowing for the optimal results.

How long does it take to heal?

  • The laser treatments works by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated light that break the ink into tiny fragments. The “macrophage” white blood cells shed the unwanted pigment through your body’s immune system. This process immediately post treatment and continues for up to 2 months.

  • The physical healing period takes 7-14 days. It is expected that the treated area will be raised and look reddish around it. It will feel warm, like a bad sun burn.

  • Localized swelling along with the formation of blisters is to be expected over the first 72 hours. The blisters should be clear (fluid filled) and typically subside within a week along with the swelling.

  • By week two post treatment the laser treated tattoo is healed but the process that removes the pigments continues within the body. Day to day, week to week, the tattoo will continue to lose pigment.

Can the laser remove all colors?

  • Yes. Some colors are reduced easier than others. The Medlite C6 laser machine has four laser wavelengths it can use to treat different colored ink. These lights are designed to remove black, red, sky blue and finally green inks. There are tattoo artists who mix colors two create an "in between" color. Examples of this are; red and yellow to make orange ink or blue and yellow to make green ink.

The laser light will tease out these different colors on a molecular level. The laser will remove the blue and the green ink molecules during the treatment. So nearly all colors and mixtures of colors can be removed.

Various factors play a role in how simple or difficult a tattoo is to remove, the pigment used, and the skill level of the artist combined with your own body chemistry all have a direct effect on the results of laser tattoo removal.
